Press Release Body = Suzy Andron Breathes New Life into the Creation of Polytychs
Raleigh, NC: June 2007: Suzy Andron, a Raleigh, North Carolina artist, has taken an innovative approach to her artwork, bringing the ancient form of painting polytychs into the 21st Century. Andron's style, polytychs, is painted on multiple canvases; however, each canvas must stand equally on its own and as part of the overall story the polytych tells. Centuries ago, these large paintings were used as altarpieces, depicting religious scenes.
Andron goes beyond common diptychs and triptychs (two and three panel works), with as many as eleven adjacent canvases, often placing each canvas in a different position than the one it aligns to. She connects the canvases in a unique way with custom framing, creating new geometric relationships. The abstracts are expressed in radical, but defined, perimeters that are stunning from a distance and intriguing close up.
Currently, Andron's work can be seen at the modern Mexican restaurant and tequila lounge, Jibarra, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as in corporate spaces, such as SAS Institute. For more information about Andron's polytychs, including requesting a showing, please visit www.andron.com or call (919) 606-2817.
"Painting in the abstract allows me to reach deep into the wellspring of who and what we are as people," explains Andron. "Polytychs gives me the means to paint without boundaries, creating pieces that allow people to have unique experiences when they see my artwork, which, I hope, resonates with them beyond words."
